Pie in the Face for Portland Middle School Administrator
Portland Middle School Dean of Students, Leanna Davis, recently took several pies to the face after students exceeded their goal for a charity program.
Davis said, “Mrs. Merrifield, our 6th grade ELA and Social Studies teacher, works closely with the Portland Community Fund. She came to me about two weeks ago expressing interest in holding some sort of contest to help receive more donations of certain items that the Community Fund was low on. We decided that for every 50 items donated during the four-day period that I would receive one pie to the face.”
Portland Middle School students quickly stepped up their efforts, and according to Davis, “surpassed all expectations and brought in a total of 327 items in four days.”
On Tuesday, December 19th, during the school’s Holiday Assembly, Davis received six pies to the face from six different students.
Davis added, “I am very proud of our students for supporting such a great cause in our community!”
