Shamrocks and Raiders Learn First-Round Opponents in Football Playoffs
Our community will have two teams competing in week one of the MHSAA football playoffs. The Shamrocks and the Raiders both learned who their first-round opponents would be on Sunday night.
The Shamrocks finished their regular season with a five win and four loss record, and 5th place in the South Central Athletic Association - Division A conference. They will host Peck in Region 4 of the MHSAA 2018 8-Player Division 2 tournament.
The Shamrocks finished with 37.222 playoff points while Peck finished with 36.222 points. The Peck Pirates finished their regular season with a 5-4 record, and a 5th place finish in their conference, the North Central Thumb League – Blue. In case you were wondering exactly where Peck is (like me), it is due East of Birch Run, not far from the coast of Lake Huron. While the game time is not confirmed yet, the Pirates will likely make the two-hour 131-mile trek to Portland on Saturday, October 27th.
The winner of the Shamrock/Peck game will face the winner of the Tekonsha (31.000/New Haven Merritt Academy (38.822) game.
The Raiders will host a familiar foe in round one of the Division 5 playoffs when the Marauders of Ovid-Elsie come to town. This game is expected to occur Friday, October 26th at PHS.
The Raiders finished 9-0, 95.111 playoff points, and in first place of the CAAC White conference. The Marauders finished their season with a 6-3 record, and 60.889 playoff points. They were second in the Mid-Michigan Activities Conference. They opened their season with a 18-0 loss to Portland.
The Winner of Portland/OE will face the winner of Lansing Catholic (8-1/76.444 points) and Olivet (8-1/85.111 points).
