Beacon receives generous donation from VFW Post 4090

On Saturday morning, VFW Post 4090 presented a donation check to The Portland Beacon. Post Commander Dave Reed presented the check to longtime Beacon contributor Robert Lathers.

Reed said, "The Portland Beacon had always represented the VFW Post 4090 and Portland area veterans well and that it was an honor to provide them a donation so they can continue their good work."

Beacon publisher Jim Townsend said, “We have excellent relationship with VFW Post 4090, and it is a true honor to help this fine veteran’s organization in any way we can. Past Commander Bill Almy routinely contacted us whenever the post had news to share, and I hope Commander Reed will continue to allow us to support the post.”

Townsend added, “Today’s donation is greatly appreciated and it will be helpful us in covering some of our operating costs.”
