Raider Cross Country Runners Compete at P/W Fall Classic
The Portland Raiders Varsity Boys and Girls Cross Country teams traveled to Fisherman’s Creek Sportsman’s Club in Crystal, Mi. on Saturday, to run in the Pewamo-Westphalia Invitational with eleven other area high schools. The Raider’s Boys placed 7th overall and the Girls placed 9th. Stockbridge won both the boys and girls 5K team events.
Maya Estell led the Portland girls with a time of 24 minutes, 23 seconds, placing 31st overall. Estell was followed by Lilly Buckland, Alyssa Jack, Ellie Pung and Teaghan Lathers, respectively. Rylee Tolsen of Stockbridge placed first in the girl’s race with a time of 18 minutes, 47 seconds.
Matt Nowak and Brock Lynch, both from Mt. Pleasant Sacred Heart, placed first and second in the boy’s race with time of 16:40 and 16:48 respectively. Carter Rosier of Portland, with a time of 20 minutes flat, placed 37th out of 63 runners to lead Portland. He was followed by Ben Wasmus, Devin Spitzley, Matt Seavey, Austin Schneider, and Brycen DeShane.
The Raider Cross Country teams travel to Eaton Rapids on Tuesday night to participate in the Eaton Rapids Invitational.
