After an exceptional 2024 track season that saw the Portland St. Patrick Lady Shamrocks finish with a State Runner Up, the Shamrock ladies were gutted by graduation, but the men will actually see an increase in participation for 2025. The lady Shamrocks will have nine members, two seniors, three sophomores, and four 8th graders. The boys will have eleven members, four juniors, four sophomores and three freshmen. Coach Dawn Fedewa expressed optimism and excitment about this seasons prospects. "While young, both teams are motivated to achieve their goals. They are a cohesive group that thrives on seeing their teammates find success."
"Although the girls team is smaller than it has been in the past, it will rely on the experience and success of its returning members while trying to translate the middle school success of its new members to the varsity level. The boy's team is working hard to get a larger contingent to the post season. With more depth than they've had in the last several years, they willl have more opportunities to succeed in the postseason and as a team. With only two seniors, it will be a year of growth for both teams".
Coach Fedewa talked about the Shamrock returning leaders, "Kenzie Fedewa returns for her fifth year on varsity, after joining the team as an 8th grader. She will lead the team after earning 13 All-State honors so far in her track career. She wrapped up last season with 4 All-State honors, earning State Champion/State Record in the 4x200 and State Runner-up in the 4x400. Joining her will be 3rd year varsity runner, Siena Schafer who was a member of the State Runner Up 4x400. Bella Russman also returns as a State Qualifier from last year. On the boys side, two-time hurdle state qualifier Junior Nick Pung will lead the young squad. He will be joined by Isaac FoxElster who was a state qualifier in cross country this fall."
The Shamrocks have a meet on 4/16 at Laingsburg.
