Caitlin Cusack Announces Music Video Series Honoring Lost Loved Ones

Ionia Native, Caitlin Cusack announces an interactive music video series in the name of honoring deceased loved ones. The You Carry Me Project will feature the community of Ionia and offer opportunities for the public to get involved.

By partnering with Ionia Community Awareness (ICA) and highlighting the 2023 Purple Week, the project invites and encourages the public to participate in several different ways. The project is welcoming submissions of names and photos of lost loved ones to be memorialized in the video series. Additionally, people of all ages are welcome to attend the Purple Concert & Music Video Shoot presented by ICA on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at 7:00 PM at Watt Auditorium in Ionia, Mi.

The live concert offers an exciting opportunity to appear in the final music video, and the event will feature Cusack’s uplifting original music from the project and beyond. Joining her will be guest musicians from the Grand Rapids Symphony, the Ionia Vocal Music program, and more. Purple attire is encouraged. Suggested donation is $10. Concert RSVPs and memorials can be submitted at caitlincusackmusic.com.

Dan Cusack retired after a multiple decades long career in the Corrections at Riverside Correctional Facility, and spent his retirement coaching youth sports and volunteering at SS. Peter and Paul. He passed away in 2016 after a long battle with the rare neurodegenerative disease Multiple System Atrophy. Mary Cusack was involved in all things music over a 40-year span in Ionia, including music directing and teaching at SS. Peter and Paul, directing Ionia Young Peoples’ Theatre, accompanying Ionia Public School choirs, theatre, providing musical entertainment at the Ionia Free Fair, and more. She passed away unexpectedly from cancer in 2019.

The You Carry Me project is in need of sponsors and individual donations to fund the professional musicians, recording, and videography teams involved. A portion of proceeds will be designated to Ionia Community Awareness. The series release will be announced upon completion of filming. For more information, please visit www.caitlincusackmusic.com.

Caitlin Cusack is a Michigan-based musician whose life took a dramatic turn after a life-changing brain injury and the loss of her parents. On a challenging recovery journey, Cusack found comfort and healing in songwriting and has since dedicated herself to sharing her music as a beacon of hope for others navigating their own hardships. Cusack crafts soulful, piano-driven pop songs that blend memorable melodies with poignant lyrics exploring themes of love, loss, grief, and growth. Her debut record, Quiet My Mind, with songs inspired by her journey through brain injury rehabilitation, is available on streaming platforms worldwide.

Ionia Community Awareness is a nonprofit organization created in 2010 to assist community members who are affected by cancer. All money raised is used to provide financial assistance to those individuals fighting the dreaded disease with the hope that, by alleviating some of the financial uncertainty a cancer diagnosis creates, those warriors can put all their energy toward a cure.
