Elaina Volk Leads Raider Girls to 4th Place Finish
The Portland Girls Cross Country Team, led by Jr. Elania Volk, finished in fourth place at Tuesday’s CAAC White Jamboree held at Ionia High School. Volk completed the 5K race in a time of 23 minutes, 56 seconds. Also placing for the Raiders were Sophomores Maya Estell, Lilly Buckland, Ellie Pung, and Freshman Evey Arleth. The girl’s race was won by Lansing Catholic Sophomore, Hanna Pricco with a time of 19 minutes, 43 seconds. Lansing Catholic placed six runners in the top ten finishers of the race to take the team title as well.
Carter Rosier led the Raider boys’ team with a 16th place finish. His time for the 5K was 19 minutes, 1 second. Placing for the Raiders were Jr. Ben Wasmus, Sophomore Austin Schneider, and Freshman Devin Spitzley and Matt Seavey. Bryce Dubay of Charlotte finished first in the Boys race with a time of 17 minutes, 18 seconds. Lansing Catholic won the team title for the race.
The Raider Cross Country teams will be in action again on Saturday when they participate in the Greater Lansing Cross County Championship at Ledge Meadows in Grand Ledge.
