Honsowitz finishes 22nd in MHSAA Division 3 Golf Finals

The MHSSA Boy’s Golf Division 3 State Finals were recently held at Michigan State University’s Forest Acres West Golf Course. PHS coach Jon Snellenberger shared the following information with us.

Day 1

Portland High School varsity golfer senior Isaac Honsowitz had an up and down start to his first day round at the 2023 MHSAA LP Division 3 Boys Golf State Finals. After struggling to get much going on the front nine holes, Isaac was able to make a strong recovery on the back nine shooting a two-over par 38. Isaac finished the first round of two eighteen-holes rounds with an 86 on Michigan State University’s Forest Akers West Golf Course. He will go into tomorrow’s culminating eighteen-hole round near the middle of the 108 player field.

Day 2

Isaac has a great second day round! Playing on a championship golf course that can take down even the best high school golfers, Isaac finished his second day round in a four-way tie for the eighth best score of the day shooting a five over-par 77. Overall his two-day total of 163 earned a twenty-second place finish individually. Isaac has added his place in the history and record book of the best golfers to have played for Portland High School. He capped off his high school golf career playing in the 2023 state final and by scoring a “birdie” his final high school career hole. What a great way to finish!
