Ionia County College & Career Fair

On Wednesday, October 18th, the Ionia County Career hosted a Ionia County College & Career Fair. Over eighty organizations and professionals attended this event from careers and colleges/universities. The College & Career Fair is hosted to expose students to a variety of different paths available after high school.

● Colleges, universities and military branches educated students about admissions, financial aid, scholarships, housing, and degree programs.

● Career professionals educated students about career paths, education required, skills and steps to enter that field.

The Ionia County Career Center provides services to Ionia County students with the opportunity for career and technical education (CTE) programs. The main thrust of CTE is to provide learners with the knowledge and skills they need to be prepared for college and careers. With this goal in mind, the Ionia County College & Career Fair is a way to connect students with possibilities for pathways to success after high school. The College & Career Fair is a wonderful event to assist local districts in preparing their students for the next big step after graduation. The Ionia County Career Center is another educational service provided by our parent district, Ionia County Intermediate School District.

The Ionia County College & Career Fair was well attended by our local schools: Belding High School, Ionia High School, Lakewood High School, Portland High School, PACE, Portland St. Patrick High School, Saranac Jr./Sr. High School and Welch High School.
