Katie Wiggins to continue cheer career at Calvin University

PHS senior Katie Wiggins recently signed to continue her cheer career at the next level at Calvin University.

Wiggins told the Beacon, “I have been involved in Portland Varsity Cheer all four years of my high school career and even did track my sophomore year! I have been rewarded honorable mention for All District 2023!”

When asked about her choice in Calvin, Wiggins said, “I will be attending Calvin University in the fall of 2024! I chose Calvin because of their faith-based curriculum and close proximity to home.”

Wiggins said, “I cannot thank my coaches enough for showing me what a healthy athletic environment looks like and being fantastic guides through both life and cheer events. My teammates truly have also been the reason I’ve stuck with cheer as long as I have. They have shown me true friendship and teamwork through all we’ve encountered.”
