Lady Raiders hand Newaygo first loss of season

On Wednesday night, the Portland girls basketball team hosted the Lions of Newaygo. Newaygo entered the game with a perfect 5-0 record.

Portland defeated Newaygo 38-33.

The Raiders were led by juniors Ashley Bower with 18 points, Ava Guilford with 11 points and Alivia Densmore with seven points.

Senior guard Jaylee Long led the Lions with 13 points.

Portland 11 – 11 – 8 – 8 – 38

Newaygo 6 – 6 – 10 – 11 – 33

Portland improves to 5-1. Newaygo moves to 6-1.

The Lady Raiders will travel to Lansing Catholic (4-1) on Friday, before hosting Williamston (4-1) on Saturday.
