Obituary for Alfred Frank Goodman, Jr.
Alfred “Alfie” Frank Goodman, Jr. passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, January 26, 2024. Al was married to his high school sweetheart, Carol (Seal), for 67 years. He was dedicated to the car service industry for more than 40 years. After retirement, Al continued working on cars for his family and numerous friends for many more years. Alfie was a true family man and the “go-to” guy for many. Many of his favorite times included countless trips with Ron and Patsy (Seal) Weatherbee as well as many camping getaways with friends and family.
The relationships he had with each of his grandchildren were special and filled with great love and joy.
Preceding Al in death are his parents, Alfred and Lucy (Miller) Goodman, Sr.; son, Brian Goodman; brothers, Jim Goodman and Mike Goodman; and sister, Liz Seal. Al is survived by his beloved wife, Carol Goodman; children, Greg (Sue) Goodman, Mark Goodman, Kirk (Renee) Goodman, Todd (Josette) Goodman, Pam (Brian) Grapentien, Chad (Jamie) Goodman, Dana (Andy) Linebaugh; son-in-law, Mike Maliszewski; grandchildren, Ryan (Rachel), Jordy (Renae), Jena (Glen), Corinna (Kristen), Matt (Alexis), Jarred (Alyssa), Tyler, Justin, Dylan, Rylie (Treyvin), Taylor (Bryce), Bailey (Mallory), Jake (Miranda), Jessika (Travis), Julia, Anthony, Sarah (Austin), Seth, Sam, and Natalie (Gavin); great-grandchildren, Nate, Gabe, Grace, Branson, Sawyer, Grady, Evelyn, Lincoln, Brody, Norah, Mallory, Camila, Saige, Caroline; siblings, Louise (Jim) Gensterblum, Alice Bills, Denise Goodman, Nancy Yager, Pete (Ruth) Goodman, Pat (Luanne) Goodman, Neil (Kerri) Goodman, and Denny (Theresa) Goodman; special friend and brother-in-law, Ron Weatherbee; and very special friend, Tom Balderson.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024 from 5-8 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 690 Maynard Road, Portland. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Al’s name can be made to the Portland Athletic Association. Al took great pride in watching his children and grandchildren play sports.
