Obituary for Betty M. (Rowe) Somervill

Betty May Somervill, age 92, entered into eternal life on December 25, 2022. It was her best Christmas gift ever. She was surrounded by family in love.

Betty was born May 1, 1930, in Blissfield, MI, and resided most of her life on Somervill Road in Jackson, MI. She was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Donald Dean Somervill. Her parents, Orley and Edith (Hunter) Rowe died when Betty was young and she was lovingly raised by her grandparents and sweet aunts.

Betty was a lifelong member of Rives Baptist Church. She considered it an honor to be a homemaker and perfected pies of all kinds. Betty and Dean enjoyed traveling the world, experiencing five continents. She followed her husband anywhere. They enjoyed spending time together with family on the water in Traverse City, MI, and in later years moved to Portland, MI to be near family. Betty loved her popcorn and was sweet and spunky until her last day.

She is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Blaine) Wittkopp, of Williamsburg, MI (formerly of Portland, MI), and Brenda Gratz of Jackson, MI; three granddaughters, Courtney Bedore of Atlanta, GA, Carmen (Jordan) Burke of Kalamazoo, MI, and Morgan Wittkopp of Kalamazoo, MI.

A private graveside service will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2022 in Jackson, MI.
