Obituary for Bonnie Lea Huhn

Bonnie Lea Huhn, of Portland, passed away in the presence of her loving family on February 25, 2024 at the age of 82. She was born to Chester and Marian (Shaw) Kelly in Grand Ledge on July 6, 1941.

Bonnie was a woman of great faith, whose devotion inspired those around her. She lived with kindness and compassion, leaving a mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Among Bonnie's cherished pastimes was her love for camping and traveling; she particularly enjoyed her annual mother-daughter vacations. One of  her and her daughters most treasured traveling memories was their white-water rafting adventure. Bonnie was an avid Detroit Tigers and MSU Spartans fan. Over the years, Bonnie enjoyed scrapbooking and going out to eat with her family. For 34 years, Bonnie dedicated herself to her work at Meijer, where she formed lasting friendships with those who were lucky enough to meet her.

Preceding Bonnie in death are her parents and sister, Shirley Robbins. She is survived by her children, Brenda (Joe) Haney, Julie (Gilbert) Palacios, Larry Huhn, Sherri (Joe) Hufnagel, and David Huhn; 9 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and sister, Doris Selden.

The family wishes to give a special thank you to the staff and caregivers at the Portland Assisted Living Center and Heart to Heart Hospice for the wonderful care they took of Bonnie.

A private traditional burial will be at Portland Cemetery. Everyone is invited to celebrate Bonnie’s life at the Portland VFW at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 2, 2024. Arrangements are entrusted to Lehman Funeral Homes. Online condolences may be made at www.lehmanfuneralhomes.com.
