Obituary for Carol Lynn (Webert) Wilcox

Carol Lynn Wilcox, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and faithful servant of the Lord, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at the age of 83. Born in Lansing on April 9, 1941, Carol was the daughter of Dean and DeRua (Pline) Webert. Carol graduated as Valedictorian and Class President from St. Patrick High School in 1959, a testament to her dedication and hard work. Her pursuit of knowledge continued at Spring Arbor University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

On April 22, 1961, Carol married the love of her life, James H. Wilcox at St. Patrick Catholic Church, a union that would be blessed with many years of love and companionship. Together, they built a life filled with family, faith, and fond memories. A long-time, devoted member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Carol served as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. Carol had a passion for life’s simple pleasures. She found joy in playing cards and games with her family, solving crossword puzzles, and tending to her flowers and landscaping. Her talents were immense, she also skillfully made blankets that became cherished keepsakes for many. Family was at the heart of everything Carol did. She created lasting traditions with her grandchildren, especially during Christmas when baking cookies, making candy, and shopping together became an annual event. Carol also loved spending time in Florida with her family where they made countless memories over the years. Her warmth, kindness, and generosity will be deeply missed, but her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Preceding Carol in death are her parents, Dean and DeRua Webert; brother, Tom Webert; sister, Sharon (Burton) Robson; and brother-in-law, Robert Trimmer. Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Jim Wilcox; children, Debra (Neil) Miros, Mike (Debbie) Wilcox, and Susie (Ken) Moyer; grandchildren, Shelbi (Matt) Pline, Rachel (James) Spohn, Ryan (Amy) Wilcox, Stephanie Miros, Jacob (Mari) Moyer, Brittni (Jordan) Krausz, Emily (Nicholas) Coyne, and Travis Moyer; nine great-grandchildren; and siblings, Janice Trimmer and Dave (Melanee) Webert.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, August 22, 2024 from 5-8 p.m. with the rosary being prayed at 5:00 p.m. at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland.
