Obituary for Francis R. Leik

Francis Leik, beloved husband, uncle, brother, and dedicated marathon runner, passed away on February 12, 2024 at the age of 85. Born on April 3, 1938, Francis lived a life filled with passion and determination.

Francis is survived by his loving wife, Patricia, whom he cherished dearly. He leaves behind his brothers, Richard and Larry, and sisters, Rosemary, Elecia, and Judy. He is preceded in death by his sisters, Rita, Joann, and Marcella.

Francis found immense joy and fulfillment in the sport of running, completing an astonishing 97 marathons. His dedication to the sport was unparalleled and he inspired many with his perseverance and determination.

In addition to his passion for running, Francis was a skilled tradesman and dedicated employee of the Lansing Board of Education, where he worked as a plumber for many years.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no formal services held. Instead, a memorial to celebrate Francis’ life will be planned for the summer, where friends and family can gather to honor his memory and share stories of his remarkable life.
