Obituary for Frank L. Platte
Frank Leonard Platte, of Portland, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on August 12, 2024 at the age of 76. He was born in Westphalia on February 17, 1948 to parents, Leonard and Virgillia (Wohlfert) Platte. Frank was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam War. He was a hardworking man, retiring from General Motors at the age of 48, something he was proud to accomplish. He enjoyed the great outdoors, whether it be playing a round on the golf course or hunting. Frank was a longtime member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Portland. Above all, he loved his family and he cherished the many memories made over the years with them. He will be missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing and loving him.
Preceding Frank in death are his parents; his wife of 54 years, Linda Platte; father and mother-in-law, Miles and Geneva Reeves; and sister, Arlene (Garland) Salmon. Frank is survived by his children, Kimberly Cooper, Shelly (Scott) Teachout, Douglas “DJ” Platte, Eric (Shelly) Platte; grandchildren, Nicole Laskey, Clayton (fiancée, Jasmine Patrick) Teachout, McKenzie (Tanner) Allison, Clayton and Austin Jarrard, Hunter and Devan Platte, Caitlin Ferguson, Gage Rodriguez and Payton Platte; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Jailin, Willow, Grayson, and Riverlyn; siblings, Viola Meyers, Dale (Flos) Platte, Jerome Platte, Fred (Dorothy) Platte, and Don (Terri) Platte; and many nieces and nephews.
