Obituary for Gerald "Jerry" Hoag




Gerald “Jerry” Hoag, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on July 25, 2024 at the age of 68. Jerry was born on November 29, 1955 in Lansing, Michigan, the son of Donald and Patricia (Waters) Hoag. Jerry was a graduate of Potterville High School – Class of 1975. He married his beloved wife, Teresa (Tomlinson) Hoag on February 28, 1976 and they settled in Portland to raise their family. Jerry retired from Fisher Body after 30 years of dedicated service. Jerry spent much of his free time fishing. He especially enjoyed fishing in Elberta with his friends. Jerry was a devoted family man; he loved his family with his whole being and his granddaughters were the apple of his eye. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.


Preceding Jerry in death are his parents; siblings, Richard Hoag, Don (Guadalupe) Hoag, and Emilee (Terry) Ackley. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 48 years, Teresa Hoag; children, Katie (David) Dean, Kayla (Adam) Goins, and Mike (Jessie) Hoag; grandchildren, Hailey, Paige, and Cassie Dean, Quinn Carpenter, and Aubrey Goins; in-laws, Ann Wheaton, Joyce Werner, and Roger (Elizabeth) Tomlinson; and four nephews and seven nieces.


A special thank you is given to Sparrow Hospice and Ray and Holly Reed for the care and compassion they have shown to Jerry.


A Celebration of Jerry’s Life will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at 4950 S. Lowell Road, St. Johns, Michigan 48879. Arrangements are entrusted to Lehman Funeral Homes. Online condolences may be made at www.lehmanfuneralhomes.com.
