Obituary for Gordon D. Schray

Gordon D. Schray, 86, of Mulliken, passed away at his home on September 9, 2022. He was born on November 4, 1935, the son of Neil Schray and Hazel (Stair) Schray, but was later raised by his loving aunt and uncle, John and Glenna Fleetham. Gordon graduated from Sunfield High School in 1953, where he was a talented athlete, excelling in basketball and football. He was the life of the party, making friends wherever he went. Gordon worked hard and he played hard. In his younger years, he enjoyed riding motorcycles. He reveled in the great outdoors and had a real passion for hunting and fishing. Gordon liked lotto scratch offs, many times thinking he had won when he really did not. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren. Gordon had a special bond with his dog, Jasper who never left his side. Gordon worked at Mapes Furniture laying carpet for some time and later went on to become a Foreman at General Motors until his retirement. He had a way with words, his favorite saying being, “whatever” and he could put a smile on your face in an instant. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Preceding Gordon in death are his beloved wife, Audrey Schray; his parents; his aunt and uncle, John and Glenna Fleetham; and son-in-law, Tony Ames. Left on Earth to treasure his legacy are his children, Kevin (Tina) Schray, Kellie Ames, Kirt Schray, Kirk Schray, and Kristie (Jerry) Binns; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Jerry (Bina) Schray and Charlene (Tom) Eash; many in-laws, nieces and nephews; and special friends, Bill and Malinda Taylor.

A private graveside service will be in Meadowbrook Cemetery, Mulliken. Arrangements are entrusted to Lehman Funeral Homes. Online condolences may be made at www.lehmanfuneralhomes.com.
