Obituary for Helen Krzeminski

Obituaries


Helen Krzeminski, age 99 years, of Portland passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2025. She was born on February 7, 1926 in Patten, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Michael and Agnes Psioda. Helen was bundled up on a cold, snowy February day to be taken in a horse drawn sleigh for her baptism. Helen was raised on the family farm along with her nine siblings, which at this time horses were used for about everything.  Helen overcame a childhood sickness with the voice of her mother praying to the blessed Mary, “The Lady in Blue”. Helen had happy memories of her older sisters taking her to Shirley Temple movies.  Helen was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Patton. She enjoyed playing basketball at the county school.  Helen advanced a year in school enabling her to graduate the same year as her sister Margaret in 1943.  Looking for employment opportunities, Helen and a few of her brothers and sisters moved to Detroit, Michigan in the late 1940’s.  She worked for Burrough’s Adding Machine Plant and was office personnel for Desoto Automobiles.  


On October 3, 1953 she married the love of her life, Raymond Krzeminiski in Detroit, Michigan and together they shared 70 years of marriage. In 1962, Helen and Ray purchased a farm in Portland, Michigan where they shared the passion for farming.  They raised Angus cattle and hogs along with crops of corn, oats, barley and alfalfa to feed the livestock. Helen was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Portland.  


Helen is preceded in death by his parents; husband, Raymond; sisters, Stella, Vicki, Mary, Eleanor, Sophie, and Margaret; brothers, John, Jake, and Joe. Surviving are her children, Elaine, Cindy, Tim, Luke Krzeminski, and Julie; 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. 


The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Portland, Michigan. Rite of Committal will follow at Danby Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 17, 2025 at the Lehman Funeral Homes, 210 E. Bride St., Portland. The rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church in memory of Helen. Online condolences may be made at www.lehmanfuneralhomes.com.
