Obituary for James Arthur Winslow, Jr.


James Arthur Winslow Jr., born September 24, 1950 passed away peacefully on his birthday, September 24, 2023. He was born in Durand, Michigan, the son of James A. Winslow, Sr. and Patricia A. Winslow. On September 12, 1970, Jim married the love of his life, Beverly Jean (Dilley) Winslow.


Jim retired from TRW after 36 years, then worked part time at B&W for 16 years, and also the Kent County Conservation Club for 10 years. He taught Hunter Safety for 40 years and some CCW classes as well.


He liked to hunt and fish. He took a couple of trips to Isle Royal backpacking. Jim was in boy scouting for several years, especially when his boys were in it. He was also the scout master during that time.


Preceding Jim in death are his parents; son, William J. Winslow; father and mother-in-law, Elon F. and Hilda C. Dilley; step-father, Claude Daley; in-laws, Gary Blanchard, Cathy and Fred Schafer, and Ken Guy.


Surviving Jim are his wife of 53 years, Beverly J. Winslow; children, Douglas J. Winslow (Salina) and Timothy M. Winslow (Trisha); grandchildren, Tyler J. Winslow (Tatiana), Dylan R. Winslow (Danae), Nicholas A. Winslow, Halie R. Winslow, Nayela C. Winslow, and Hope N. Winslow; siblings, Gary L. Winslow (Bonnie), Mark L. Winslow, and Connie Blanchard; in-laws, Don and Nancy Dilley, Franklin Dilley, Floyd and Marilyn Dilley, Iva Guy, Blanche and Larry Powell, Barbara and Dale Simmon, and James and Ann Dilley.


A memorial celebration will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023 from 2-6pm at the Grand River Conservation Club. Arrangements are entrusted to Lehman Funeral Homes. Online condolences may be made at www.lehmanfuneralhomes.com.
