Obituary for Janet A. (Mulder) Gensterblum
Janet A. (Mulder) Gensterblum, of Portland, passed away peacefully at the age of 81 on December 31, 2022. She was born in Grand Rapids, the daughter of Albert and Dorothy (Rinks) Mulder. Janet was a long-time member of the First Congregational Church in Portland and she retired from TRW after many years of service.
Preceding Janet in death are her parents; husband, Larry Gensterblum; son, David Gensterblum; sister, Eleanor Westfall; Gensterblum in-laws, Richard (Marcella) Gensterblum, Leon (Helen) Gensterblum, Elizabeth (Gerald) Huhn, Geraldine (Albert) Hodge, Marvin (Lois) Gensterblum, Virginia (Neil) Shimp, Lucille (Carl) Redman, Alvin Gensterblum, Forest “Bud” Peake, Dolores (Allen) Houser, Paul Gensterblum, and Robert Gensterblum. Janet is survived by her daughters, Carol Gensterblum of Portland and Pamela Mortensen of St. Ignace; grandsons, Gerrit (Molly) Mortensen of Howell and Dane (Alexis) Mortensen of St. Ignace; great-grandson, Marshall Mortensen; brother, Marty (Lucy) Mulder of Portland; sister, Donna (Vic) Trierweiler of Traverse City; Gensterblum in-laws, Eleanor Peake, Sr. Bonita Marie Gensterblum, Mary Louise (Bill) Hanses, Barb (Pete) Densmore, Jim (Louise) Gensterblum, Cecelia Gensterblum, Mary Gensterblum, and Judy Gensterblum; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Careline Hospice, especially Katie, Lori, Cory, and Nikki and to Chaplain Scott for the wonderful care and compassion they showed to Janet.
The Funeral Service will be officiated by Rev. Dr. Marilyn V. Danielson at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 28, 2023, at the Lehman Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A luncheon will follow the funeral service at the Portland VFW Post 4090.
