Obituary for Joan Ilene Meyers
Joan Ilene Meyers of Portland, Michigan, age 63, entered into her Heavenly home on Wednesday, October 18th, 2023 at 3:30 pm after a courageous battle with cancer with her family lovingly by her side. She is celebrating in the presence of Jesus, her Lord and Savior.
She was born November 11th, 1959, and was the daughter of John and Estella Meyers (Hoppes). Joan was a devoted, loving, and precious mother, grandmother, and friend who was loved by all of her family, friends, co-workers, and anyone who entered her life. She enjoyed working with the elderly and spent a significant portion of her career at Tendercare West. Her true love was cultivating the most delicious fruits and vegetables from her garden and caring for her beautiful horses. Joan was strong in her faith and she had an unwavering love for her children, siblings, family, and friends. She was the perfect combination of loving, strong-willed, goofy, thoughtful, and generous. All of which could be conveyed in her contagious smile, her embrace, and dance. She will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Jeremy Weber, and her siblings Larry, Roy, Kathy, and Jimmie. She is survived by her children Amanda Weber & Kathleen Irving, Adrianne & Paul Jabaay, Dylan Weber, Lori & Dave Jordan; her former spouse George Weber; her mother-in-law Jennie Weber; her grandchildren Alexandra, Shadd, David Jordan Jr, Owen, Avery, Anna, and Marin; and her siblings Marie Alt, Rosie & Jim Fish, Theresa & Pat Lancaster, Nick & Jean Meyers, Julie & Dennis Deatrick, and John & Cindy Meyers. She was the guardian for her brother Roy for over 20 years. John Caron entered her life over 3 years ago, and they had a loving, faith-filled, and beautiful relationship. She remarked that these last years with John gave her peace and love that many of us search to find. She was blessed with many friends whom she considered family, including Roger and Mary Miller, Helen Weber, Vivienne Weber, Annie Hamm, Gina Voorheis, Chris Bozung, and Paula Beechnau. She lovingly remembers her relationships with colleagues Dianne Brunner, Tina Simon, Amy Holden, Sarah Miller, Tami, Chef Terry, Nancy and all the dietary cooks/aids, nurses, CNAs, etc that became her work family.
