Obituary for John "Bob" Robert Gustafson

John "Bob" Robert Gustafson, age 89, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. He was born February 22, 1934 in Chicago, IL, the son of John and Ruth Gustafson. Bob’s parents immigrated to the U.S. from Sweden and settled in Chicago before his birth. He graduated from Michigan State University in 1956 with a degree in Civil Engineering and retired from the State of Michigan in 1996. Bob was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Grand Ledge. He loved being on his farm in Portland, enjoyed fishing and going up-north to deer camp with several of his college friends for many years.

He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Nancy Agostini; and sister, Irene Anderson. Surviving are his loving wife of 67 years, Margaret; sons, Thomas (Dayna) Robert Gustafson, John Patrick Gustafson, and James Paul (Michelle) Gustafson; 11 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.

The Memorial Service will be conducted by Pastor Chuck Foerster at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 29, 2024 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 517 S. Clinton Street; Grand Ledge. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. A luncheon will immediately follow the service.
