Obituary for L.D. "Butch" Burger

L.D. “Butch” Burger, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather, of Vermontville, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2022 at the age of 84. He was born in Portland on May 24, 1938, the son of Forrest and Thelma (Moon) Burger. He married the love of his life, June (Teachout) Burger on January 5, 1956 and they were happily married until her passing in 2021. L.D. reveled in the outdoors- hunting and camping with his family in his younger years. He was a big fan of country music and even sang and played the guitar himself. L.D. retired from General Motors, but his passion was in farming. He was a John Deere man and he took great pride in his work. After his retirement, he and his wife spent winters in Florida where they made many wonderful memories. L.D. loved his family with everything he had- including his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and especially his dogs, Clyde and Toby.

Preceding L.D. in death are his parents; wife, June Elaine Burger; son, Steven Craig Burger; son-in-law, Mike Dickinson; former son-in-law, Steve Duffey; sisters, Leota (Jay) Miller, Jean (James) Gazella, Doris (Vernon) Miller, Carolyn (Robert) Scholtens, and Dixie (Ferguson) Chapman; and several Teachout in-laws. He is survived by his children, Sue (Claude) Hine, Jayne (special friend, Scott Cook) Dickinson, and Jeffrey Burger; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; several Teachout in-laws; and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Lehman Funeral Homes. Online condolences may be made at www.lehmanfuneralhomes.com.
