Obituary for Mark Poole Anthony, Sr.
On January 2nd, 2024, Mark Poole Anthony Sr. went to join his Heavenly Father. Mark was born December 28, 1953 the son of Lawrence and Margaret Anthony. He graduated from Portland High School class of 1972. Mark retired from General Motors at the age of 48 after 30 years of loyal service. Though he never served in the Armed Forces he was a strong Patriot and loved his country. Mark had the upmost respect for those who did serve. He enjoyed volunteering at several different American Legions and VFW posts in both Michigan and Floridia. One wall in his garage serves as a tribute to the different branches of service. He would always refer to it as the “Honor Wall”. He loved the Michigan Wolverines. GO BLUE! He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed shooting pool.
Mark had a huge heart. He had unconditional love for all of his kids, Grand kids, Nieces and Nephews, Brothers, and Sisters. He rarely spoke ill of anyone and always wished everyone well. Preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Margaret Anthony, Siblings Marilyn Hinds, Midge Rowe, LaVonne Sines, Florence Ingraham and Brother-in-law Coy Marshall. Daughters Jessica Webb and Julianne Town, Son-in-law Chris LyVere and Grandson Robert Town. Survived by his best friend and loving wife Dianne Anthony of Westphalia. Brothers Lawrence (Vicki) Anthony of Portland, Matt (Joanne) Anthony of Portland, and Sister Leona Jane Marshall of Portland. Children Amy Anthony (James Wheeler) of Portland, Mark Anthony of Six Lakes, Shawn (Pam) Anthony of Grand Ledge, Roman (Pennie) Schafer of Lyons, Cari LyVere of Lyons, Deanne Schafer Fell of Westphalia, John (Nicole) Schafer of Ionia, Angi Schafer (Darvin Cook) of Vestaburg, Marci (Jim) Levering of Lake Odessa. Also survived by 31 Grandchildren; 26 Super Grandchildren and 3 Super Duper Grandchildren and countless Nieces and Nephews. The Memorial Service will be conducted by Pastor Jimmy Guffey at 11:30 a.m., Friday, January 12, 2024 at the Church of the Nazarene, 9466 Cutler Rd., Portland. The family will receive friends at 10:30 a.m before the service. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the family to help with medical expenses.
