Obituary for Mary Lynn (Spedoske) Hoppes

Mary Lynn (Spedoske) Hoppes, age 69, of Portland, passed away May 22, 2021 surrounded by her family. She was born in Big Rapids, Michigan on October 4, 1951, the daughter of Dominic and Carolyn Spedoske. Mary enjoyed gambling, knitting, being by the water, reading, and watching the Detroit Lions and Tigers. Above all, Mary loved her family and watching her grandkids sporting events.

Preceding Mary in death are her husband, Gerald “Jerry” Hoppes; her parents; sister, Carol (Bruce) Irons and Kathleen (Dave) Smith; brothers, Michael Spedoske and Bill Spedoske; infant sister, Patty Kay Spedoske; and in-laws, Virginia (Oscar) Townsend, Colleen (William) Trierweiler, Dick (Carol) Hoppes, Stanley (Joan) Hoppes, Leon (Geraldine) Hoppes, James (Sharon) Hoppes, Dick Kelly, and Alice Hoppes. Mary is survived by her children, Tim Hoppes, Missy (Larry) Thelen, Carrie Hoppes, Pete (special friend, Marlena) Hoppes, and Josh Hoppes; grandchildren, Patience (Dain) and Lyndon Hoppes, Brittany Thelen, Hunter and Tristan Hoppes, Marty and Jared Thelen, Jada, Madelyn, and Maya Hoppes, Emma Hoppes, Alex Hoppes, and Gage Vergeson; great-grandchildren, Anecia “Princess” and Iverson Thoma; siblings, Betty Kiter, Steve (Linda) Spedoske, John (LouAnn) Spedoske, Robert (Stacy) Spedoske, and Sal (Dennis) Miller; in-laws, Deb Spedoske, Sherry Spedoske, Alice Kelly, Joe Hoppes, Larry (Dee Dee) Hoppes, and Tom (Jill) Hoppes; and her best friend, Sue Luna.

A Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland. A Graveside Service will take place at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Portland Cemetery with Fr. Mike Alber presiding. Arrangements are entrusted to Lehman Funeral Homes.
