Obituary for Ronald "Jim" J. Lyon, Jr.

Ronald J. “Jim” Lyon, Jr., age 58, of Crystal formerly of Eagle, loving husband, dad, grandpa, brother and friend passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2023 at his home on Crystal Lake. He was born on July 22, 1964 in Lansing the son of Ronald and Carol (Haviland) Lyon, Sr. Jim enjoyed bowling, fishing, golfing, listening to all types of music and watching the University of Michigan sporting events and the Detroit Tigers. He was the “Captain” of the pontoon and took pride in teaching his children and grandchildren to drive.

He worked for Maag Transportation for many years in Eagle and was known by many as being loyal, kind, helpful and a friend to all and yes, even being a little stubborn every once in awhile.

Jim was preceded in death by his parent’s; in-laws, Bret and Magdalene Strong and several members of the Lyon and Strong families. Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Mary (Strong); children, Bret Ferris, Heather (Kevin) Bowers and Mallory Ferris; grandchildren, Hunter, Lilyana, Xavier, Kolton, Jayla and Dawson; siblings, Annette Hulsey, Jolette Lyon and Andy Lyon; several nieces and nephews and many good friends. The Memorial Service will be conducted by Rev. Marilyn V. Danielson at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 10, 2023 at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland.
