PHS Girls Golf Season Summary
The fall 2023 golf season was a successful one for the Lady Raider Golf Team. They finished the season in 2nd place in the CAAC White behind Division IV State Champion Lansing Catholic. As a team they finished with Academic All State honors with a 3.8 cumulative GPA in addition to all members earning All Conference Honors. Bailee Fish, Ella Gruber, and Malia Thelen earned honors as All Conference (top 11 in the league) while Annabelle Bower and Paige Spedoske earned All Conference Honorable Mention. This is the first time in program history that all 5 competing athletes earned All conference recognition. Bailee Fish was named Ionia County golfer of the year
On October 9th the team traveled to Gross Ile Country Club to compete in the Division III regional on a very tough course with extremely windy conditions. The team finished in 5th place overall with only 6 strokes separating them from qualifying for states as a team. The Raiders were led by Bailee Fish who scored her season low 93. This score qualified her as an individual at the 2023 Girls Golf State Finals. Bailee is the first Lady Raider golfer in program history to qualify for the State Finals!
With her team, family, and friends watching, Bailee played in the two day 36 hole state final tournament at The Meadows at GVSU. The weather was cold, rainy, and windy but this did not stop the Raider faithful from showing up to support Bailee. Bailee posted a respectable two day 36 hole score of 206 ranking her 71st in the state out of 108 golfers at the state finals. Bailee had an amazing finish to her junior year and was named Ionia County Golfer of the Year. The team looks forward to next season where they hope to qualify for states as a team.
