PHS grad excited to run own division of College Works Painting

Jessie Whitford, a junior at Michigan State University and 2022 graduate from Portland High School, will be running her own division of College Works Painting this year.

Whitford recently explained to the Beacon, “Through this internship I have been trained to run my own division of this company this year. I am given multiple resources to help me succeed, but from start to finish, my branch is what I make it. I have handled the marketing and bidding estimates all the way to booking jobs this spring that I will eventually complete with a crew of painters I hire.

When asked if she had worked for College Works Painting in the past, Whitford said, “I had never even heard of College Works Painting until someone spoke about it in one of my classes last semester and I was immediately intrigued by this opportunity that most internships don’t offer.”

Whitford is currently booking jobs and filling her schedule to start painting early this summer with her crew.

She told the Beacon, “I am currently studying criminal justice at Michigan State and have no doubt in my mind that the real-world social skills I learn with this company will be something I use throughout the rest of my life.”

Whitford added, “I am beyond excited to be a part of something as great as this internship and hope to make a lot of homes shine!”
