Portland Athletic Hall of Fame 2024




The 14th class to be inducted into the Portland Athletic Hall of Fame at a dinner on October 19 features six individual athletes, a coach, an honorary, and two teams.


Brent Thelen , Lindsay Seal , Tommy Stornant , Erin Holdren , Mackenzie McGrady  and Brittany Grys  are the individual athletes.  The late Brad Foltz is the Honorary and Mark Holdren is the Coach.  The 1996-97 Wrestling Team and the 2007 Softball teams will also be inducted. 


Thelen, a 1993 graduate, was a multi-sport athlete with many accomplishments especially in football and baseball.  His senior year he was selected as the Ingham County League Most Valuable Player in football.


Seal, a 2003 graduate, was an outstanding basketball player and softball player.  She was a two-time 1st team All State softball player and a member of the Lansing State Journal Dream Team in 2003.


Stornant, a 2004 graduate, playing football, basketball, and track.  He was the State Champion pole vault champion with a vault of 15’6” in 2003. He was a two-time ICL and State Regional pole vault champion.


Holdren, a 2004 graduate, was a standout cross country runner, volleyball player and track runner.  She was selected Team Captain in all three sports and was All – League in all three sports.


McGrady, a 2006 graduate, was a multi-sport athlete playing football, basketball and track.  He was 2nd team All-Conference in both football and basketball.  He went on to play football at Alma College and international pro football.


Grys, a 2007 graduate, was an outstanding softball pitcher.  Her career pitching record was 61 wins, 9 losses and 5 saves.  Her senior season she had a 34-3-1 record with 349 strikeouts and only 32 walks. 


Mark Holdren coached Portland wrestling for 32 years along with coaching cross country and volleyball.  He is a member of the Michigan High School Coaches Hall of Fame, Michigan Wrestling Association Hall of Fame, National Wrestling Association Hall of Fame and Olivet College Hall of Fame.


The late Brad Foltz is the Honorary inductee.  He was the guy you could turn to for help at any athletic event including videoing games, keep score or run the clock at wrestling and volleyball games.  He was respected by all and especially by students. 


The 1996-97 wrestling team set the standard for all future Raider wrestling teams by their work ethic and success.  They were State District and Regional Champions and had five All-State wrestlers.


The 2007 Softball team had an impressive 42-4 record.  They won 4 tournaments including the Lansing Softball Classic.  They were State District and Regional Champions and won their Quarterfinal game before losing 2-0 in the Semifinals.
