Portland baseball tops Sexton, falls to DeWitt
On Tuesday night, the Raiders celebrated their six seniors by defeating Sexton 23-0 and 15-0, both in three innings. Seniors Isaiah Pelc and Carson Martin both went 2-2, while Mark Meyers added a couple more hits going 2-3.
On Thursday, the Raiders dropped both games against the DeWitt Panthers. In the first game, DeWitt took an early lead, but the Raiders managed to score runs in the 4th and 5th innings. Despite out-hitting the Panthers with a 10-9 advantage, the Raiders struggled defensively, committing nine errors. Marky Meyers took the 5 to 8 loss, and offensively, Senior Marc Nobis led the team, going 3-4, while Gunner Williams and Evan Thelen both went 2-4.
In the second game, Caden Thelen ignited the offense with a solo home run. However, the Raiders eventually lost 7-8 in the 7th inning against the Panthers. Defensively, they struggled again with five errors.
