Portland Football moves to 5-0 with win over Lansing Catholic

The Portland High School football team hosted the Cougars of Lansing Catholic on Friday night as Portland’s 2023 Homecoming Game. The Raiders picked up a 52-14 victory moving to 5-0 on the season.

Senior running back Caden Thelen led the Raider offense rushing for 140 yards and five touchdowns. Senior running back Connor Kazamer tallied 61 yards rushing. Sophomore Kayden Dickerson ran for 28 yards including one touchdown. Junior receiver Christopher Battley had two catches for 75 yards and one touchdown.

Junior linebacker AJ Weber led the Portland defense with seven tackles and one sack. Dickerson added five tackles, and senior linebacker Mark Meyers had two sacks.

Lansing Catholic 7 – 7 – 0 – 0 - 14

Portland 21 – 7 – 21 – 3 – 52

With the win the Raiders are now 5-0 overall, 4-0 in the CAAC White conference.

Up next, Portland travels to Eaton Rapids. The Greyhounds are now 1-4 overall, 1-3 in the CAAC White with their only win being a 14-8 win over Lakewood.
