Portland football secures outright CAAC White title with win over Charlotte



The Raiders traveled to Charlotte on Friday night for a CAAC White match-up with the Orioles of Charlotte.  Portland clinched an outright CAAC White championship with a 48-26 win.

 

Junior linebacker AJ Weber led the Portland defense with 11 tackles.  Senior defensive lineman Barrett Spitzley and junior linebacker Brad Meyers each had seven tackles.  Senior Mason McGregor had six tackles.

 

Junior running back Kayden Dickerson led the Raider rushing attack with 95 yards on 17 carries and one touchdown rushing, plus 29 yards and one touchdown receiving.  Mason McGregor 33 yards on four carries.  Junior running back Nolan Zybtowski had 14 yards and 1 TD.

 

Junior Christopher Battley had three catches for 113 yards and three touchdowns.  Senior Evan Gross had three catches for 46 yards and one touchdown.

 

Scoring by quarter:

1st – 2nd – 3rd – 4th – Final

Portland 14 – 21 – 7 – 6 – 48

Charlotte 6 – 6 – 6 – 8 – 26

 

With the win, Portland improves to 7-0 overall, 6-0 in the CAAC White division.   Next week they close out their league schedule when they host Lansing Sexton.  The J-Dubbs are currently 4-3 overall and 4-2 in the CAAC White.  Last week Sexton defeated Eaton Rapids 63-7.
