Portland Football tops Berrien Springs to finish regular season undefeated
On Friday night, the Portland Raider football squad hosted the Shamrocks of Berrien Springs for both teams regular season finale.
In the opening quarter, Portland senior running back Conner Thelen scored on a five-yard touchdown run. Senior kicker Aiden Pulling connected on the extra point giving the Raiders a 7-0 lead.
In the second quarter, Thelen would find the endzone a second time, this time on a eight yard run. Junior quarterback Dominic Novara also threw for two passing touchdowns in the second, one being a 70-yard pass to junior receiver Christopher Battley, and the other an eight-yard pass to junior running back Evan Gross. Pulling made good on all three extra point attempts in the quarter, giving Portland a 28-0 first half lead.
In the fourth quarter of the contest, the Raiders would score two more times. The first was a 29-yard pass from Novara to Battley, with Pulling connecting on the point after. The second was on a 40-yard punt return by senior Conner Kazamer, with Gross successfully completing the two-point conversion.
The Raiders would win 43-0, and finish the regular season with a perfect 9-0 record.
