Portland Foundation for Public Education announces new Board
Since 1989, the Portland Foundation for Public Education (PFPE) has been here to support the staff and students of Portland Public Schools. The generosity of our Portland community allows PFPE to provide resources through classroom grants and scholarship awards to graduating seniors each year. Education is the cornerstone of any community, and we are proud to help the students of Portland.
Recently, the Foundation welcomed an almost entirely new Board of Trustees. We would like to introduce you to each of us so that you can reach out if you see us in the community. Current Board Members include Casey Klein, Linda Hoxie-Green, Johnathan Bair, Doug Logel Jr., Diana Graef, Angela Shinaver, Jennifer Little, Joe Polasek, Erin Weller and Dave Warner.
The PFPE Board would like to thank our previous Board members for their many years of dedication to the students and staff of Portland Public Schools. Previous Board members include: Greg Foote, Mike & Cindy Ward, Betsy Svanda, Jock Clarey, Keith Neller & Monte Overweg. If you see any of these individuals out in the community, be sure to show your appreciation too.
Over the last 10 years alone, the Foundation has awarded over $50,000 to PHS Seniors to further their education beyond high school. Additionally, we have awarded classroom grants in excess of $10,000 over that same time period. These awards are not possible without the generosity of the wonderful donors of our Portland community.
An easy way to support the PFPE is to download the Box Tops for Education app and begin scanning the receipts of products you already purchase. No more clipping and returning to the schools. A portion of the money you spend goes back to us to support the staff and students of PPS!! https://www.boxtops4education.com/s/get-the-app
