St. Patrick Boys

The Shamrocks defeated Bellevue 57-55 on Wednesday in their district semifinal match. You can find the Bleacher Denizen’s recap of the game at https://thebleacherdenizen.com/2024/02/29/portland-st-patrick-vs-bellevue-boys-basketball-district-tournament-semifinal-the-bleacher-denizen-february-28-2024-by-chuck-krafft/ .  With the win, the Shamrocks improve to 12-11 overall this season and advance to face Fowler on Friday night at Bellevue for the district championship.  Fowler is currently 16-7 on the season. 

Portland Boys

The Raiders defeated Belding 42-34 on Wednesday in their district semifinal.  The Raiders improve to 14-7 overall this season and advance to face Ionia (11-12 overall) on Friday night at Ionia for the district championship. This will be the third meeting of the season for these two CAAC White teams.  Portland won 41-39 on December 15th.  Ionia won the second meeting on February 2nd 58-38.

St. Patrick Girls

On Tuesday, the Shamrocks defeated Laingsburg 56-29 and captured the CMAC league title outright. Led by Mattie Honsowitz with 15 points and 4 blocks. Laynie Meredith added 11 points and 5 assists. Rylee Scheurer added 10 points and Hannah Weller grabbed 6 boards.  Laingsburg was led by Mallory Woodbury with 10 points.  The Shamrocks finish their regular season 20-2 overall and 17-1 in the CMAC.  They open district action on Wednesday at Fulton facing the winner of Webberville and Lansing Christian.

Portland Girls

The Raiders picked up only their second loss of the season on Thursday night when they lost to Williamston 45-39.  Kayla Weber and Lilly Thelen led the Raiders with 11 points each.  Jocelyn Kotowicz led Williamston with 13 points. You can find the Bleacher Denizen’s recap of the game at

They open district play facing Charlotte at Portland on Wednesday.  Portland already defeated Charlotte twice this year winning 72-26 on January 16th and winning 55-25 on February 20th.
