WHAT:
The Michigan Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in People v. Curtis Allen Morris and observe a community activity led by the Lowell High School Performing Arts students. A student debriefing session will be led by MSC Chief Commissioner Daniel C. Brubaker and Commissioner Liza Moore before and after the oral arguments. This event is open to the public. WHEN:
Wednesday, April 23, 2025, starting at 10:00 a.m. (arguments will begin at 10:30 a.m.)
WHY:
In addition to hearing oral arguments at the Michigan Hall of Justice in Lansing, Justices and staff travel to communities statewide as part of the "Court Community Connections" program, which the Court started as a public education program aimed primarily at high school students. This will be the 31st time the Court has traveled to hear a case at another location.

Online streaming of oral arguments and other hearings will begin shortly before hearings begin. Streaming will begin only while the Court is in session and on the bench. Get regular updates as cases are heard by following the Court on X (formerly Twitter). Please contact the MSC Public Information Office at 517-373-0497 or gilmorer@courts.mi.gov for permission to film or photograph during the hearing. The request must be submitted three days in advance of the hearing.
Note:
Media should arrive no later than 9:30 a.m. Proceedings will begin at approximately 10:00 a.m., with oral arguments beginning at 10:30 a.m., followed by a public debriefing at 11:15 a.m. At approximately 12:10 p.m., students will participate in a reception with the Justices, who will be available at that time for interviews. No backpacks, large purses, electronic devices, weapons, metal items, food, or drinks will be permitted in the courtroom. Cell phones will be allowed, but must be powered down during oral arguments. Everyone entering the courtroom will pass through a metal detector.
