Raider Boy’s Track takes home 1st Place Hardware at Portland Track Invitational.

12 personal best performances gave the Raiders something to cheer about when they handed out the 1st Place team trophy this past Saturday. Portland collected 29 medals by 17 different boys, running some tremendous times.

The 4x800 Relay team of Tejan Virk, Brody Sanborn, Owen Moore and Matthew Seavey started the day off right with a win, then Isaac Dakin grabbed points in the 110 hurdles. Makyah Mora and Chris Battley placed their names on Portland’s All-Time Top 10 list in the 100m with 11.56 and 11.57 times. That was followed by a 2nd Place finish in the 4x200 Relay by Dylan and Dustin Wolf, Brady Rowe, and Nolan Zbytowski. Fresh off their 4x800 win, Seavey and Moore then grabbed 3rd and 5th in the 1600m, while the 4x100 Relay team of Rowe, Zbytowski, Mason McGregor and Dustin Wolf picked up 4th Place medals and points. Mason McGregor and Nolan Zbytowski medaled and picked up points in the 200m dash. The Raiders 4x400 Relay of Wolf, Wolf, Seavey, and Sanborn finished the Track work coming in 2nd in a great race.

Just like they have been doing all year, Noah Simpson and Evan Bower dominated the Shot and Discus placing 1st and 2nd in both, and new-comer Drew Edick jumped onto the medal stand turned in a great performance in the discus as well. The Dakin brothers took 2nd and 4th Place in the Pole Vault, while Chris Battley and Evan Gross picked up 3rd and 5th Place medals and points.

Raiders Men Out Run Greyhounds

The weather was perfect and both the Greyhounds and Raiders turned in an epic back and forth battle! Eaton Rapids started off by winning the 4x800 relay, then Issac Dakin, Brody Sanborn and William May answered for Portland by sweeping the 100 hurdles with three personal bests. In his first 100 meters of the year, Makyah Mora raced to 6th place on Portland’s All-Time list. Matt Seavey grabbed 2nd place points in the 1600 meters, then Evan Gross, Nolan Zbytowski, and Brady Rowe followed that up with a 1st Place finish in the 4x100. Dustin Wolf got 2nd in the 400 meters, then Makyah Mora ran the top 300 hurdle race of the year in the CAAC White Division, with Brody Sanborn grabbing 2nd place. Matt Seavey won his 2nd open 800 meters of the year, and Mora and Zbytowski out ran the Greyhounds grabbing 1st and 3rd in the 200 meters. One of the most exciting races of the night was the 3200m finish between Owen Moore and Jack Huntington, both in an all out sprint ending the two mile, both setting personal bests. Moore, a freshman, got nudged at the finish, but his time still was fast enough to place him 1st All-Time on Portland’s record board.

Portland dominated the throws, with Noah Simpson and Evan Bower going 1 and 2 in the Shot and Discus and in his first season, Drew Edick missed qualifying for Regionals with a 3rd Place Discus throw of 117' 8". Cameron Saint Amour made a huge jump in the Discus going out over 104', while Logan Rogers and Dylan Underwood PR’d in the Shot Put. Evan Gross and Josh Allerding tied for 2nd on the High Jump and the Dakin brothers, Isaac and Sawyer, took 2nd and 3rd place points to seal the Raider win. Portland is hosting the Portland Invitational Saturday, May 6th.
