Raider Boys clinch CAAC White Championship with Overtime win over Sexton

For their final regular season contest of the 2024-2025 season, the Portland Raiders traveled to Lansing Sexton on Friday night to face the J-Dubbs and to decide who would secure a CAAC White league championship.  Both teams entered the game with a 12-1 league record.

 

In a thrilling contest that went into overtime, the Raiders won 61-59.  Junior Tej Virk and senior Evan Gross each had 16 points for Portland.

 

This is the Raiders first boys league basketball title since 2007.

 

Portland finishes the regular season with a 13-1 league record, and 19-2 overall record.

 

The Raiders will host the MHSAA district and will face the winner of St. Johns and Central Montcalm on Wednesday night.  The winner of that contest will face the winner of Ionia/Belding in the district finals on Friday night.
