Raider Softball splits with ER, sweeps Haslett


The Portland High School softball team traveled to Eaton Rapids on Tuesday for a league match-up.


Game 1: Eaton Rapids 3, Portland 1


The Raiders combined for eight hits in the game but were only able to score one run.


Bailee Fish and Anastasia Seidelman (double) each had two hits for Portland.


Jayden Townsend pitched the complete game, striking out one Greyhound batter.



Game 2: Portland 5, Eaton Rapids 4


Bella Spitzley picked up the win on the mound for the Raiders, striking out five.


Claire Lyon led Portland offensively with two hits including a double and a grand slam.



On Thursday, the Raiders travelled to Haslett.


Game 1: Portland 8, Haslett 3


The Raider bats were hot in the opening game tallying eight runs on 16 hits.


Townsend went four for five with three doubles. Lilly Thelen went three for four with a double. Fish, Seidelman and Rylee Miller each had two hits for the Raiders.


Townsend got the win in the circle striking out three Haslett hitters.



Game 2: Portland 11, Haslett 2


Portland scored 11 runs on 15 hits in the final game of the day.


Thelen (double) and Spitzley each had three hits. Townsend (triple) and Gillian Pung each had two hits.


Spitzley struck out three and got the win pitching for the Raiders.



The Raiders improve to 13-11 on the season. Next week they will host Bath on Tuesday night before traveling to Okemos on Thursday. On Saturday they travel to Charlotte to make up a league contest that was rained out earlier this year.
