Raider softball sweeps Olivet, drops two to Lansing Catholic




Last Friday, the Portland High School softball team traveled to Olivet.

 

Game 1: Portland 14, Olivet 0

Sophomore pitcher Bella Spitzley pitched the full five inning game for the Raiders striking out six and holding the Eagles to just two hits.

 

The Raiders tallied 13 hits in the game.  Spitzley led with three hits.  Senior Jayden Townsend, sophomore Lilly Thelen (triple) and junior Anastasia Seidelman each had two hits.  Sophomore Veda Smith added a triple.

 

Game 2: Portland 16, Olivet 4

Townsend pitched the first two and a third innings striking out one, and Spitzley pitched the final two and two thirds’ innings striking out four.

 

Townsend (triple and double) and Seidelman (triple) led the Raiders offensively with three hits each.  Junior Bailee Fish had two hits with a double. 

 

 

On Tuesday, Portland hosted the Cougars of Lansing Catholic.

 

Game 1: Lansing Catholic 10, Portland 7

Portland had plenty of hits in game one, but came up short.  Fish had three hits including a double.  Thelen had two hits with one home run.  Junior Autumn Reffitt had two hits with one home run.  Townsend added a triple for Portland.

 

Spitzley pitched the complete game for Portland, striking out one.

 

Game 2: Lansing Catholic 4, Portland 0

The Cougars held Portland to just four hits in game two.  Townsend had a triple, while sophomore Claire Lyon, Seidelman and Smith each had one hit. 

 

In the circle for Portland, Townsend pitched two innings with Spitzley pitching the final four innings.
