Raiders Bats Come Alive to Sweep League Rival Eaton Rapids


In game one of a league doubleheader on Tuesday, the Raiders defeated the Greyhounds 9-4 thanks to a strong start.


Portland scored on a sacrifice fly by Brody Moore, a single by Gunnar Williams, a double by Caden Thelen and a single by Marc Nobis in the second inning to get things started.


The Raiders offense was hot. They scored two additional runs in the fourth and three runs in the fifth to secure their victory.


Marc Nobis took the win for the Raiders on the mound. The lefty allowed six hits and struck out four. Paul Roberts threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen giving up one hit and striking out three. All together the Raiders racked up ten hits. Marky Meyers (2-4), Marc Nobis (2-3)and Brody Moore (2-2) led the way with multiple hits.

Game two against the Greyhounds ended up being a blow-out victory for the Raiders. Portland got things started right away in the first inning when Barrett Brennan singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run. The Raiders also added runs in the 2nd, 3rd & 4th innings, but things really opened when they scored eight runs in the seventh inning. The offensive firepower was led by Evan Thelen, Marky Meyers, Brody Moore, Gunnar Williams, Carson Martin, and Brady Krause, all knocking in runs in that inning. Caden Thelen stays stellar on the mound allowing two hits and striking out five in four innings. The Raiders ended up with 17 hits in game two. Leading the way for the night was Carson Martin and Barrett Brennan with 3 hits each.

The Raiders are 12-4 overall and 4-2 in the league.
