Shamrock boys win league opener
On Wednesday, December 6th the Shamrocks defeated Bath 56-47 to open up league play in Boys Basketball.
In the first quarter, both teams came out a little rusty, with the Shamrocks outscoring the Bees 6-4. Charlie Thelen had 4 points to lead St. Patrick.
The second quarter saw the Shamrock offense wake up, putting up 19 points and holding Bath to 11. Brayden Simon led the Shamrocks, primarily from the free throw line, hitting 5 for 8 free throws and hitting two 3 pointers, he ended up scoring 13 in the quarter and the Shamrocks took a 25-15 lead into the half.
After halftime, the Bath Bees woke up a bit, and edged out the Shamrocks, winning the quarter 17-15, but still down 40-32 after three quarters. The Shamrocks had good balanced scoring, with 5 players scoring in the quarter.
The fourth quarter saw quite a grind from the Shamrocks, with many visits to the free throw line, where the Shamrocks went 8 for 12 from the charity stripe. Brady Leonard led the Shamrocks with 6 points, and the Shamrocks won the quarter 16-15.
St. Patrick was led by Brayden Simon with 21 points 2 rebounds 3 assists and 1 steal, Brady Leonard had 13 points 7 rebounds 3 assists and 2 steals, and Charlie Thelen had 13 points 4 rebounds 1 assist 2 blocks and 2 steals.
