Shamrock Cross Country News


The Portland St. Patrick cross country team has had a very busy week.  Saturday, October 10, 2020 the teams competed in the always highly competitive Greater Lansing Invitational.  This year the met was split into divisions with St. Patrick competing in the Division 4 race.  Cozie Brown finished in 6th place, earning a medal.  Laynie Meredith finished in 8th place, pushing through a strained calf muscle. and earned a medal.


This was followed by the Saranac Color Run on Tuesday, October 13, 2020.  A blustery day and a very hilly course  Cozie Brown ran a season best time of 21:29 finishing in 2nd place, earning a silver medal and only 9 seconds from the school record.  Arianna Foxelster lowered her PR by 32 seconds, finishing 28th and earning a medal.  Laynie Meredith was held out of the race to allow her calf muscle to heal.  For the boys, Martin White lowered his season best by 55 seconds and finished in 27th place earning a medal.


The 3rd meet of the week was the final CMAC league meet at Saranac.  Arianna Foxelster set another PR lowering her time by 58 seconds.  Cozie Brownlowered her season best by 4 seconds now only 5 seconds from the school record.  Cozie finished in 16th place in the CMAC and earned honorable mention all conference.  Lanyie Meredith lowered her PR by 23 seconds tying the school record at 21:20.  Lanyie finished in 13th place in the CMAC earning 2nd team all conference.  For the boys Martin White set a new PR lowering his time by 30 seconds to 21:57.


The Shamrocks next meet is the pre-regional at Carson City on Saturday, October 24th.
