Shamrock men hammer Bellevue
The Portland St. Patrick Shamrocks travelled to Bellevue Tuesday night for a basketball game with the 17-4 Broncos. The Shamrocks played great defensively throughout the night and were just too good, winning the game 57-34.
In the first quarter, neither team could get much going offensively, with St. Patrick winning the quarter 10-8. Brayden Simon led the Shamrocks with 5 points.
In the second quarter, the offenses of both teams played a little better, with the Shamrocks winning the quarter 13-12 and taking a 23-20 lead into halftime. Five different Shamrock players scored in this quarter.
After the half, Coach Curtis Meyers must've put the fear into the team, and the Shamrocks came out on fire, scoring 16 points and holding the Broncos to an impressive 3 points. This made the score 39-23 after three quarters of play. Landon Simpson led the quarter with 6 points on two 3-pointers, and St. Patrick had 6 players score.
The final quarter saw more Shamrock offensive dominance, scoring 18 points in the quarter and holding Bellevue to 11. Gabe Wernet and Tyler Thelen went off in this quarter, with Gabe scoring 10 and Tyler scoring 6.
