Shamrock softball sweeps Carson City Crystal, splits with Laingsburg
St. Patrick Varsity softball celebrated senior night Monday and came out ready to hit. They took the win in the first game 12-3 versus Carson-City Crystal. Gracelyn Rockey led offensively for the Shamrocks going 4-for-5 with 3 RBIs and a double.
The Shamrock seniors, Natalee Teachworth, Emma Honsowitz and Hayley Fleischer all recorded multiple hits in game one, along with Hannah Weller. Emma Honsowitz had a double, Hayley Fleischer had a triple and Tori Sandborn had an in the park homerun.
Tori Sandborn also had the win on the mound with a complete game, striking out 4 batters.
The Shamrocks kept the bats going in game two and took home a 11-0 win.
The team recorded 15 total hits in game two, led by senior Hayley Fleischer going 3-for-4 with two triples. Multiple hits were recorded in game two by Gracelyn Rockey, Mattie Honsowitz, Emma Honsowitz and Laynie Meredith. Hannah Weller and Emma Honsowitz each had a triple and Laynie Meredith added a double.
Mattie Honsowitz got the shutout win, striking out 7 in the complete game.
On Tuesday, the St. Patrick varsity softball team took on Laingsburg, who came in undefeated in the league. St. Patrick lost the first game 14-3 with Tori Sandborn on the mound.
Gracelyn Rockey led offensively for the Shamrocks, going 2-for-3 with two doubles. Mattie Honsowitz also had a double in the game.
In the second game, the Shamrocks got the bats going early and continued to pull away, to finish with a 10-7 win.
Again Gracelyn Rockey led offensively going 3-for-5 with 1 homerun and 1 grand slam for 5 RBIs, Tori Sandborn had multiple hits in the game and Addison Scheurer had a double.
Mattie Honsowitz got the win on the mound with 2 strikeouts and a good defense playing behind her.
