Shamrock softball sweeps Saranac, goes 1-1 at Irish Invitational Tournament
On Thursday, the Shamrocks came out with big bats tonight versus Saranac. They took the win in the first game 16-1.
Offensively the Shamrocks were led by Rylee Scheurer, going 4-for-4 with three doubles and six RBIs. Gracelyn Rockey was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, and Natalee Teachworth went 2-for4 with a homerun and two RBIs.
Tori Sandborn got the win with two strikeouts, improving her record to 6-2. The team defensively had no errors in game one. This was an all-around great win for the Shamrocks.
In game 2, St. Patrick’s was able to walk away with a 19-10 win.
Again, Rylee Scheurer led offensively going 5-for-5 with three RBIs and also had three stolen bases. Emma Honsowitz was 3-for-4 with 2 RBIs and a double and Graclyn Rockey and Tori Sandborn were each 2-for-4.
Mattie Honsowitz pitched 3 ⅓ innings with 4 strikeouts and Tori Sandborn finished the game with 2 strikeouts.
On Saturday, the Shamrocks traveled to Mount Pleasant for the Irish Invitational at Sacred Heart. The first game was a rematch versus Lake Leelanau St. Mary’s and there was a much different outcome this game. The Shamrocks got the bats going throughout the lineup and ended up with a 17-2 win.
Offensively, Gracelyn Rockey led the way going 3-for-3 with a double, followed by Hayley Flesicher who went 3-for-4 with a double and 4 RBIs, Rylee Scheurer went 2-for-3, and Natlaee Teachworth went 2-for-3 with a double. Also, Bella Russman had an in the park homerun for her first Varsity at bat.
The Shamrocks advanced to play a tough Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart in the championship game and ultimately lost 7-2. The Shamrocks outhit the Irish but still came up short. Tori Sandborn led the team going 1-for-3 with 2 RBIs and a double and Natalee Teachworth had a double.
The Shamrocks have Senior night Monday, May 22 versus Carson-City Crystal at home at 4PM.
