Shamrocks blank St. Charles
On Friday October 25th, the Portland St. Patrick Shamrocks travelled to St. Charles for the final football game of the season. The Shamrocks came to play and shut them down, winning the game 56-0.
In the first quarter, Brady Leonard wasted no time, leading a long drive and scoring on a 20 yard touchdown run. Brayden followed that up with a 2 yard run, and Hudson King ran in the two point conversion to leave the game 14-0 after the first quarter.
The second quarter brought more Shamrock dominance, Brayden Simon started out with a 45 yard touchdown run, followed by a Charlie Thelen run for the two point conversion. Brady Leonard then cut loose for a 75 yard touchdown sprint, and threw two touchdowns, a 17 yard pass to Charlie Thelen and a 24 yard pass to Augustus Teachworth. Brody Beckhold hit two kicks, to make the score 42-0 at halftime.
In the third quarter, Brayden Simon caught a 35 yard pass from Brady Leonard, followed by another kick by Brody. This left the score 49-0 after three quarters of a game.
The fourth quarter brought another Brady Leonard touchdown, when he broke free for a 47 yard touchdown. Brody Beckhold made the kick to make the final score.
The St. Patrick defensive leaders were Ben White and Augustus Teachworth with 10 tackles, Caleb Pline also had 7 tackles.
Offensive leaders for the Shamrocks were Brady Leonard. Brady had a career day, completing 8 of 10 passes for 112 yards and 3 touchdowns, and rushing 11 times for 242 yards and 3 touchdowns. Brayden Simon had 6 carries for 69 yards and 2 touchdowns and caught two passes for 41 yards and a touchdown. Charlie Thelen also caught 4 passes for 45 yards and one touchdown.
The Shamrocks travel to Morrice on Friday, November 1st for a 7 pm rematch with the Orioles.
