Shamrocks clinch share of League Title
The Portland St. Patrick Shamrocks travelled to Byron for a league game with the 0-8 Eagles. The Shamrocks went about their business in an efficient manner, winning the game 48-6.
In the first quarter, with Brady Leonard kicking off the scoring with a 19 yard run, and then throwing a 27 yard touchdown to Brayden Simon.
The Eagles started out the quarter with a score, but the Shamrocks punched in three scores in the quarter on an 88 yard Aiden Fandel Kickoff return, a Tyler Groothuis 5 yard touchdown reception, and a Brayden Simon 10 yard run, leaving the score 35-6 after three quarters.
The final quarter saw a pair of Shamrock scores, with Brady Leonard scoring on a 46 yard run, and throwing a 29 yard touchdown pass to Lucas Simon.
Offensive leaders for the Shamrocks were Brady Leonard who went 5 for 6 for 102 yards and 3 touchdowns and rand 4 times for 86 yards and 2 touchdowns. Brayden Simon had 7 carries for 90 yards and a touchdown.
Defensive leaders for the Shamrocks were Caleb Pline who had 11 tackles, Daniel "El Conquistador" Huggler had 8 tackles, and Riley Mosser and Devin Cook both had 6 tackles.
The Shamrocks finish out their season against a strong opponent, St. Charles, on Saturday, October 21st at Portland High School.
